ManTech is seeking a Storage & Backup Systems Administrator to provide storage and backup support to protect USCIS data across all hosts in all data centers and field sites. The candidate shall create or update Enterprise Backup policy and processes, and monitor data center backups through the USCIS Network Operations Center (NOC) 24 hours a day 365 days a year. The candidate will provide the NOC with response procedures/scripts and notification procedures for alerts, and will ensure backups are completed and verified for data storage at all data centers. The candidate will be part of a team to ensure that problems are resolved before the next scheduled backup, 98% of the time.

Duties:


• Provide management with an Enterprise Data Storage Plan and Policy for Resource Servers that includes automation, provisioning, disaster recovery, and backup and recovery solutions.


• Schedule daily backups.


• Provide Capacity and Utilization Report (Application Web and Client Servers, VM, etc.) as needed by the PMO.


• Coordinate tape removal, replacement, transportation with local support for off-site storage.


• Check the status of previous night's backups.


• Review the backup logs to ensure the backup application is running properly and no problems exist.


• Ensure the backup systems have adequate space to keep performing backups.


• Ensure the tape libraries have adequate number of tapes available to perform the next night's backup tasks.


• Oversee hardware maintenance of backup infrastructure, including but not limited to, Tape Drive replacement, Quantum iScaler 6000 Tape Library, Spectra Logic T950.


• Apply patches to backup applications.


• Work with application owners to add, change, and remove client backups.


• Notify stakeholders on issues in a timely manner.


• Oversee modifications to backup storage capacity.


• Ensure the tape rotation policies are followed.


• Conduct capacity planning of backup infrastructure to meet the future needs.


• Provide recommendations to help increase the overall data protection within the environment.


• Monitor server and SAN utilization, capacity, and availability.


• Monitor encrypted backups, shadow copy backups and ensure backup validity.


• Monthly backup restoration testing.


• Provide Storage Backup Report – detail backups completed, backups failed test for restoration, percentage of failures on a monthly basis.


• Provide Notification to the Branch Manager via email on consecutive daily failures when said events occur.

Job Requirements

Requires Bachelor's degree (in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics or Math) or equivalent, and ten to twelve years of related (telecommunication analysis) experience.

• Veeam Backup management experience required.









• System Center Virtual Machine Manager experience required.









• Veritas NetBackup systems experience required.









• UNIX, Solaris, Redhat Linux systems experience required.









• Failover Cluster Manager experience preferred.









• Service Now experience preferred.









• NetApp Data ONTap/OnCommand knowledge desired.









• VMWare ESXi knowledge desired.
