The Sr. Network Engineer:
  • Installs new releases and system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches, and resolves network related problems.
  • Performs system backups and recovery.
  • Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure network integrity.
  • Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Is experienced in executing sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of tasks and work under general supervision.
  • Typically reports to a project leader or manager
  • Analyzes Network access trends and resolve bandwidth management issues for mission critical systems.
  • Implements, troubleshoots, monitors and maintains all aspects LAN/WAN/VPN/ networks for high availability of parallel development, testing and production environments.
  • Reviews SNMP alerts, use protocol-line analyzers (sniffers)and conducts log forensics in order to determine root cause analysis and resolution of complex issues.
  • Collaborates with Software and Database Developers, Windows and Linux Server Administrators and Security personnel to analyze Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) requirements, troubleshoots anomalies and determines appropriate firewall configuration implementation.
  • Drafts and submits recommended change request proposals necessary for timely mitigation of POA&Ms and CVE findings.
  • Maintains system compliance with DHS\\FISMA IT Security and Information Assurance objectives concerning privacy of passenger screening information.

Minimum Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess a B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Math, or Engineering (or equivalent) and possess 7 to 9 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Have the ability to work on individual tasks, as well as team-oriented tasks
  • Prioritize competing priorities, work under a cross-matrix management structure
  • Required to be on-call and respond in a timely manner
  • Should be a quick learner
  • Must be able to adapt to quickly evolving technology and priority changes and have a desire to work closely with other members of the IT/development team.
  • Candidate should be a proactive self-starter with exceptional follow up skills. Must possess excellent written & verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Routing experience to include static routes, EIGRP and route redistribution.
  • Switching experience to include understanding of virtual port-channels (VPC aka MEC), spanning tree, first hop redundancy protocols, and security best practices.
  • Experience with firewall concepts and configurations to include creating/modifying access control lists, network/port address translation, and virtual private networks.
  • Experience with load balancing concepts and configurations to include layer4/layer7, SSL offloading, and health monitoring.
  • Monitoring of all network components via SolarWinds.
