As Senior Principal Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing platform services in a distributed virtualized environment.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Leading a team of system engineers, responsible for establishing service baselines for Windows servers, desktops, zero/thin clients, and Linux servers
  • Engineering, documenting, and providing software recommendations for services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and PKI, to support the virtualized environment
  • Engineering, documenting, and providing software recommendations for e-mail services, including client and server configurations, e-mail backup, and fault tolerance, and scaling services to support user growth
  • Engineering, documenting, and providing hardware recommendations for storage, compute, and networking components to support cloud environments
  • Engineering, documenting, and providing recommendations for efficient management of the hardware, software, and services, supporting the virtualized environment, including the automation, cloud operations, and general movement towards Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) work streams
  • Development of capacity management plans and implementing tools and techniques to implement the capacity management plan
  • Experience in application virtualization, software packaging, automation scripting and across-the-wire enterprise system and application deployments is desired
  • Diagnosing and resolving the toughest performance, security, and/or technical challenges related to desktop support and deployments
  • Writing implementation and design documents describing how security features are implemented
  • Participating in processes throughout all phases of ITIL Service Lifecycle
  • Providing direction and guidance to less experienced systems engineers
  • Responsibility for investigating and resolving operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel
  • Providing IT Systems Engineering support on a wide range of technologies, including: Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Internet Information Services, Microsoft SQL Server, Service Now, Symantec Management Platform, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Adobe Acrobat, InTrust, Lumension Endpoint Security, customer line-of-business applications, and others.
  • Working on project teams responsible for engineering and packaging releases to integrate within the customer's production IT environment

Position Requirements:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree or ten to twelve years of related experience. Knowledge of Server, Desktop and Application virtualization, networking, SANs, Microsoft Windows systems and desktop and thin client hardware.
    CISSP or equivalent required (must be at least DoD 8570 IAT Level III certified)
  • Microsoft Desktop certification (7.0 or later), Microsoft Server certification (2012 or later), or RedHat System Engineer (version 6 or later), or VMware Certified Professional (5.5 or later) required
  • Enterprise virtualization experience with VMware certification (certifications beyond VCP preferred)
  • Capability to express project plans within Microsoft Project and management team members to complete the plans

Security Requirements:
Top Secret clearance required with SCI eligibility
