Programs & Operations

Reports to Programming & Planning Manager. Assist the Community Planner with the development and maintenance of the numerous of Academy community plans. Coordinate with the Community Planner to provide advice and feedback to commanders on the established Academy plans; ensure projects comply with planning objectives and requirements, or compile and present information on the impacts of incompatible development.

Help facilitate day-to-day community planning, including providing assistance, coordination, and responses for miscellaneous matters related to overall planning, growth, and development within the Academy under the general guidance of the Community Planner.

Review on-base projects for conformance with Academy plans, and architectural design standards, and facility siting, with the Community Planner. Assist with maintaining all planning documents required by Air Force Instructions (AFIs) and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs), including, but not limited to the Installation Development Plan (IDP), Area Development Plans (ADPs), and Facilities Excellence Booklet.

Coordinate with airfield staff to review, prepare, maintain, and coordinate required airfield reviews and waivers, assisting with plans to mitigate and eliminate waivers and receiving input into the airfield development plan under the general guidance of the Community Planner. Review on-base projects to ensure project construction compatibility with airfield requirements and coordinate with airfield staff when there is potential for conflict.

Update Civil Engineering Databases to include Automated Civil Engineering Systems (ACES) and participate in meetings as needed.

In coordination with the Community Planner, prepare Statements of Work (SOW) and cost estimates that establish funding requirements and serve as a basis for negotiating Planning Service contracts.

Required Skills:

Ability to work in a team environment, work well under time constraints, and learn new information and requirements quickly. Working knowledge of planning, historic preservation, and airfield concepts, and a common understanding of the military environment is desirable.

Planning Technician shall have a basic understanding of Community Planning, Community Development, Architecture (emphasis in community planning), or other planning related area.

0-1 years of experience with Bachelors Degree and/or 3-5 with High School Degree.

Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver&s License. Must provide an official DMV report. Able to receive and maintain a favorable Local Background Check (LBC) and National Agency Check (NAC) as applicable to the position requirements, current and future.

Job Requirements

Requires Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent, and five to seven years of related experience.
