ManTech International is a leader in advanced technologies to help government and industry manage and protect information, support and maintain critical systems, and develop integrated systems to handle complex needs.

However, ManTech also has a small team (~30 people) of biologists, ecologists and GIS professionals based out of California who work on federal contracts with various military installations across the Western region. This satellite team works with military and civilian personnel on federal landholdings to responsibly and effectively manage land and wildlife for conservation.

Our team is currently seeking a seasonal, temporary field biologist with experience and expertise in flora and fauna identification in the Great Basin region. Specifically, the field biologist will have excellent identification skills with herpetofauna but may be required to conduct surveys for other taxa such as birds, invertebrates, and small mammals.

The position will involve highly variable tasks and will be on a strictly part-time, on-call basis as projects arise. Applicants must have ESRI ArcGIS experience. The surveyor will also be required to perform helicopter surveys and have comfortability operating in and around helicopters. Applicants must be able to work independently and responsibly in remote areas with minimal oversight. Strong references are required.

Required Skills

  • B.S. with studies in a science-related field, M.S. preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Great Basin flora and fauna
  • Ability to work outside in physically demanding situations
  • Comfortable with a flexible work environment and potentially working weekends
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • ATV and 4WD drive experience; manual transmission experience preferred
  • Clearance: None required.

Job Requirements

Requires Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent experience and 10 to 14 years of related experience.
