ManTech&s Mission Solutions and Services (MSS) Group is currently seeking a Director of Contracts in our Herndon, VA office to support complex and diverse programs for our Defense Business Unit.

Key Responsibilities:

This position reports to the MSS VP of Contracts.

Direct all contract activities and manage a team of contracts professionals for an assigned business unit within the company.

Provide counsel to management during all phases of the program life cycle to include front-end capture, proposal, negotiation, award, contract execution, and close out,ensuring risks are appropriately mitigated.

Lead contract advisor to the Defense Business Unit VP.

Advise internal customers and management on contractual rights and obligations and provide interpretation of contract terms and conditions.

Responsible for overall management of highly complex contractual activities for new and existing projects for the Defense Business Unit, clients to include but not limited to:

  • US Army
  • USAF
  • US Navy
  • US Marine Corps
  • DOD Agencies
  • Establish relationships with Government Contracting Officers for agencies identified and contracts professionals in other companies supporting these agencies.
  • Build strong relationships with internal management, capture and support organizations.
  • Oversee and participate in the preparation and communication of information regarding proposals, contract status, teaming agreements, compliance, modifications, deviations, and negotiations.
  • Lead and mentor contracts professionals in developing their career growth, including providing training, motivation and evaluation for assigned employees.
  • Serve as the escalation point for issues; resolve conflicts.
  • Assist with preparation of Requests for Equitable Adjustments (REAs) and claims.
  • Respond to all external government requests, disputes and requirements to resolve disputes between prime and subcontractors; facilitate contract closeouts; support group/corporate name changes and novations of Government contracts, etc.
  • Monitor and respond to CPARs, and oversee completion of representations and certifications.
  • Participate in post-award debriefings, serving as company lead for high profile proposals, and propose debriefing questions. Assist with proposal questions and answers, discussion questions/ENs.
  • Evaluate Organizational Conflicts of Interest and support the development of mitigation/avoidance plans.
  • Accountable for compliance through the generation and evaluation of policies, procedures,methods, operating practices, and functional performance standards to facilitate effective implementation within departmental objectives and for providing best in class service to internal and external customers.


  • BS/BA with at least 15 plus years of related experience.
  • Experience in responding to all forms of Government solicitations (RFP, RFQ, and other forms), including reviewing and understanding pricing, representations and certifications, and completion of contractual documentation
  • Experience managing all forms of Government contracts (e.g., CR, CPFF, CPAF, FFP, T&M), including understanding and interpreting diverse contractual requirements and fee/profit provisions.
  • Experience with DOD contracts including Government Schedules, multiple award contracts, and special access program contracts.
  • Expert knowledge of FAR,DFARS and applicable agency regulations, and agreements used within industry including NDAs, TAs and subcontracts.
  • Familiar with and experienced with Service Contract Labor Standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills. Good analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to build relationships and teams, and be flexible in approach. Strong written and verbal communications kills.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with operational groups and other support functions (e.g., finance,subcontracts, HR, security), and serve as a valued advisor to internal customers regarding contractual and Government compliance issues.
  • Demonstrated ability todevelop effective relationships with internal senior leadership and external customers.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory capability.
  • Proven ability to adapt and manage effectively in fast paced challenging environment and manage multiple, and oftentimes competing, priorities.
  • Solid business acumen accompanied by interpersonal aptitude.
  • Able to manage a workforce of remote contract professionals, and able to travel to other ManTech offices and customers locations.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Clearance level needed: Active Top Secret Clearance preferred; ability to obtain and retain Top Secret Clearance required.

Job Requirements

Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business administration or related field, or equivalent, and twelve to fifteen years related experience.
